History of the Mujahideen-e Khalq (MEK)

The MEK accused Khomeini of "monopolizing power", "hijacking the revolution", "trampling over democratic rights", and "plotting to set up a fascistic one-party dictatorship". The MEK represented Islamic leftists who had fought the Shah's regime independently of Ayatollah Khomeini. Khomeini, having denied the MEK participation in the new regime, forced it into opposition.
