Shipping is well developed in the Caspian Sea, including regular ferry service. For example, there is ferry from the port of Baku in Azerbaijan to Aktau in Kazakhstan. You can also travel from Aktau in Kazakhstan to Makhachkala in Dagestan, Russian. The Caspian Sea has shipping links with the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea through the Volga-Don canal.
