As the revolution gained momentum, Bakhtiar found it increasingly challenging to maintain control. On February 11, 1979, the Pahlavi regime collapsed, and Bakhtiar was forced into exile. He fled to France, where he continued to advocate for a democratic Iran and criticized the new Islamic Republic led by Ayatollah Khomeini.
