This thematic focus on social injustice continued with Crimson Gold (2003), a film that explores the stark economic and class disparities in Tehran through the eyes of a disillusioned, working-class pizza delivery man. Written by Kiarostami, the movie is a somber and meticulously observed portrait of a man driven to a desperate act by the relentless inequities he encounters. The film won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival.
