Acclaimed Vocalist Aki Banayi Dies in Los Angeles

Following the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, the performance of music by women was restricted, leading many female singers to leave the country. Aki Banayi, like many others, spent her later years living in the United States, primarily in Los Angeles, which became a new hub for Iranian artists in diaspora.
