The Islamic Republic of Iran officially designated the Kingdom Assembly and its Tondar branch as a terrorist organization, holding them responsible for several violent incidents in Iran. The most serious accusation leveled against the group, and directly against Sharmahd, was their alleged involvement in the 2008 Shiraz cultural center bombing (Hosseiniyeh Seyed-o-Shohada), which resulted in multiple civilian casualties. Furthermore, the group was accused of planning other significant terrorist operations, including attacks on the Sivan Dam and the mausoleum of Ruhollah Khomeini.
