The aircraft's sensory capabilities are further enhanced by the RBE2 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar. This radar allows for long-range detection and the ability to track multiple targets simultaneously across the air, sea, and ground. Unlike older radar systems, the AESA radar is highly resistant to jamming and offers the pilot a massive tactical advantage by providing high-resolution 3D maps for terrain following. This allows the Rafale to fly at very low altitudes and high speeds, "hiding" behind the curvature of the earth and geographic features to avoid detection by long-range surface-to-air missile batteries.
